In advance of the 2024–25 season, Chelsea FC is set to commence its yearly summer tour of the United States, and payments provider Paysafe has revealed that its digital wallet brand, Skrill, will serve as the official sponsor of the team's pre-season trip.
Skrill, which was founded in 2001 and is a subsidiary of Paysafe, will serve as the main sponsor of Chelsea FC's opening preseason game on Wednesday, July 24, against League One team Wrexham AFC. In an effort to increase brand recognition across North America, the payment platform has scheduled the game to take place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The arrangement also includes the provision of Skrill and Paysafe's online cash solution as a payment option for Chelsea FC's online store for the balance of the year.
Chelsea FC also partnered with Parimatch in August 2021 as part of a three-year agreement that ended at the end of the most recent football season.
Casper Stylsvig, the Chief Revenue Officer of Chelsea, commented on the most recent agreement, saying, "We're delighted to welcome Skrill onboard as Official USA Pre-Season Tour Partner of Chelsea FC." We respect their business philosophy of giving clients a flexible and agile approach to financial services, and they'll give supporters fantastic chances to engage with Chelsea through a variety of channels."
This latest agreement for Paysafe comes soon after the business's "Pay by Bank" offering was introduced for US iGaming, as the company looks to strengthen its presence in the US industry.
"Our Skrill digital wallet is truly a game-changer for Chelsea fans' matchday experiences, empowering them with many ways to pay for merchandise quickly and securely, and with all transactions completed through a single tap on their smartphones, so no action on the pitch is missed," said Rob Gatto, Chief Revenue Officer at Paysafe, in response to the new setup.
